24-year-old Craig Lucas crowned winner of the second season of the Voice SA
24-year old Craig Lucas under coach Khan was crowned winner of the second season of The Voice SA.
The grand finale was broadcast live from Mosaiek Teatro in Johannesburg with performances by guest artists including Nadine, Nianell, Gavin Edwards, Emo Adams, Thembeka Mnguni, Jimmy Nevis, Magdalene Minnaar and Gangs of Ballet.
Coaches Karen Zoid, Lira and Bobby van Jaarsveld also took to stage to perform.
The competition was hit by yet another voting scandal last week leading to M-Net saying they would disclose the voting figures next week for the finalé.
M-Net was alerted about alleged paid-for marketing efforts on some entrants’ personal social media accounts, which is against the rules as it can cause voting spikes.
Lucas along with being crowned winner also walks away with a recording contract with Universal Music South Africa, R250 000 (approx.$19,000) cash from Dialdirect, an array of Samsung merchandise, a Subaru Impreza 2.0 Premium CVT and R100 000 ($8000) worth of Truworths fashion.
The winner always had a passion for music but chose to pursue a degree in economics and politics at UCT before kickstarting his professional music career.
He later on auditioned for The Voice SA, with no formal musical training.
