Close to 20 people have been killed in a roadside bombing in Somalia’s Lafole town located to the southwest of the capital.

Police say the bomb went off, blowing up a packed mini-bus that was passing by.

There has been no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

“All the 18 people on board the mini-bus are dead and burnt. A remotely controlled bomb along the road exploded,” said Abidkadir Mohamed, a police officer at the scene.

The bomb may have been targeting a government truck that was carrying soldiers, but missed it, blowing up the bus instead.
