12 people have been killed while 48 others were wounded in double suicide attack at a market in Nigeria’s Maiduguri city, the capital of Borno State in north-eastern Nigeria.

The Wednesday afternoon attack happened at the Muna Garage market.

AP reports a local trader there to say the first bomber attacked inside the market while the other remained outside, killing only himself.

The agency reports head of rescue operations for the State Emergency Management Agency to say that the attacker who hit inside the market was a female while the other was a male.

Muna Garage, the site of a camp for displaced people, has been attacked several times in the past few years by Boko Haram insurgents.

Boko Haram has waged a decade-long insurgency in Nigeria, killing tens of thousands and displacing millions others as it seeks to enforce a strict sharia-based system of governance.
