11 heads of state expected in Ghana for Nana Akufo-Addo inauguration

At least 11 heads of state are expected to be part of around 6,000 dignitaries that will witness the inauguration of new Ghanaian president Nana Akufo-Addo on Saturday.

Among the leaders that have confirmed attendance include presidents of Togo, Gabon, Liberia, Cote d’Ivoire, Zambia, Benin, Nigeria and Guinea.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Haile Mariam Dessalegn has already arrived in Ghana ahead of the weekend event.

Nana Akufo-Addo will take over from President John Mahama after winning the December 7 election.

Over 5,000 security personnel are expected to supervise the event that will be conducted at the Independence Square.

The inauguration is expected to begin at 10:00 am on Saturday.

President Mahama embarked on a nation-wide tour after losing the vote, to bid farewell to his supporters.
