Kenya won her second gold medal at the ongoing Rio Olympics Games after David Rudisha successfully defended his 800 meters title with a very remarkable performance.

The 27-year-old showed great composure  and experience to beat fellow Kenyan Alfred Kipketer who has raced clear in the first lap of the race.

Rudisha raced to the front with around 300 meters to the finish line and never looked troubled as he clocked a time of one minute 42.15 seconds.

Algeria’s Taoufik Makhloufi won silver and the fast-finishing Clayton Murphy of the United States took bronze.

Makhloufi set a new national record of one minute 42.61 seconds while Murphy clocked a personal best of one minute 42.93 seconds.

Kipketer began the race in a strong fashion, going through the first 200 meters in just 23 seconds, but faded to finish seventh in the Race.

Rudisha’s win now makes him the first athlete since New Zealand’s Peter Snell in 1964 to retain the men’s 800 meters Olympic title.
