Africa’s FIFA World Cup representatives top continent in latest rankings

Tunisia is Africa’s top ranked team in the latest FIFA rankings.

Africa’s representatives at the FIFA World Cup are all ranked in the top 10 of the continents standings in the latest FIFA rankings released on Friday.

Tunisia, Egypt, Senegal, Nigeria and Morocco all made no movements in the new rankings, maintaining their positions ahead of the matches that are set to kick off across Russia on 14 June.

The Eagles of Carthage lead the continent, coming at position 14 worldwide.

West African side Senegal come up second from Africa, but 28 in the world standings.

Other sides headed to the World Cup, Morocco, Egypt and Nigeria are ranked 42nd, 46th and 47th in the FIFA world rankings, coming 4th, 5th and 6th in Africa.

The Democratic Republic of Congo maintained its impressive third place position on the continent, standing at 38th place worldwide.

Generally, there wasn’t much movement in the African ranking, save for Botswana who move six places up to 142nd.

The world rankings also remained largely unchanged, with 2014 World Cup winner Germany staying at the top spot ahead of Brazil and Belgium.
