Having already seen Max Verstappen declared the 2022 Driver’s Champion, Red Bull have turned their sights on the Constructor’s title as they seek their first double championship since 2013.
The two-time champion will begin Sunday’s U.S. Grand Prix in second place, with teammate Sergio Perez down in 9th place after taking a five-place grid penalty for an engine change.
The Bulls currently have 619 points ahead of Ferrari’s 454. Defending Champions Mercedes are further back with 387 points.
To be crowned the 2022 champions, Red Bull need to score 26 points in Austin, because that would stop Ferrari outscoring them by the required 19 points.
This means a third and fourth-place finish is enough for Red Bull, even behind Ferrari one-two.
If either Max Verstappen or Sergio Perez emerges from the weekend victorious, Red Bull will be confirmed champions.
The team finished second behind Mercedes in the 2021 constructors’ championship.
