Arsenal came from behind against Fulham at the Emirates on Saturday to take all points and retain their perfect start to the campaign.

Four games into the season, the Londoners are the only side to have won all their games, though Saturday’s victory did not come easy.

Arsenal went down to an Aleksandar Mitrović goal in the 56th minute after the Serbian took advantage of a Gabriel Magalhães mistake right in his own 18-yard area.

The Gunners, who were already pushing for a goal of their own, kept the tempo high, attacking the visitors with determination.

They got their reward in the 64th minute as captain Martin Ødegaard slotted in a shot past former Arsenal stopper Bernd Leno.

As the game wound down, Arsenal kept on pushing for a winner, although Fulham’s defense remained focused.

With just over three minutes of normal time to play, Magalhães struck home to cover for his earlier mistake.

This is the first time Arsenal have won their opening four games of the season since 2004.

In his post-match analysis, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta hailed his side’s mentality.

“I’m really happy with the performance, with the attitude and the mentality that the team showed. I think we were on top of the game, so it was about being patient and the goal would come because we deserved that,” he said.

“We had to avoid mistakes, we made an error and it cost us the goal, but even though that happened I think the team showed that against adversity, and Gabi individually how he continued to play. With the supporters, and with the support that we have in the stadium right now, it makes things much easier and the team deserved to win. It’s as simple as that.”

Next up for Arsenal is a game against Aston Villa, still at the Emirates.
