Manchester United club manager believes the club’s latest signing, Casemiro could help the club get back to winning titles.

“He has won so many trophies in his career,” Erik Ten Hag said. “He knows the road…how you win games and finally how you win trophies.

Ten Hag made the comments following his side’s 2-1 victory over Liverpool on Monday, their first win of the season.

“We [now] have more players who have won already many trophies in their career. That has to be a guidance for the rest of the team so they know and they understand how to win games.”

Casemiro was officially unveiled as a United player before Monday’s match, having completed his transfer from Spanish giants Real Madrid in a deal that runs until June 2026, with the option to extend for a further year.

The 30-year-old midfielder made over 300 senior appearances for Real Madrid after joining them from Sao Paolo in 2013.

During his time in the Spanish capital, he won 18 titles, including five UEFA Champions League trophies and three Spanish La Liga championships.

“The opportunity to start a new challenge at Manchester United and in the Premier League is extremely exciting,” he said after completing his move.

“I have worked with many great managers in my career and, having met with Erik and heard his ideas, I can’t wait to work closely with him, his staff and my new teammates in the coming years.”
