Manchester United on Sunday announced the signing of Lisandro Martinez after reaching an agreement with Ajax.

Reports indicate Manchester United will pay a guaranteed €57.37 million for the Argentina international defender who was also wanted by Arsenal. That amount can increase to €67.37 million through variables.

Martinez will link up with manager Erik Ten Hag whom he played under at Ajax.

The 24-year-old signed for Ajax from Argentina’s Defensa y Justicia in 2019.

During his time with the Dutch giants, he made 120 official appearances and scored six goals.

He won the Eredivisie twice in his time at Ajax, in 2021 and 2022. He also won the Dutch Cup in 2021

Martinez was named last season’s ‘Ajax Player of the Year’.

He is Manchester United’s third signing of the transfer window after Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen.
