4 killed in roadside blast in southern Somalia

Four civilians were killed in a roadside explosion on the outskirts of the southern port city of Kismayo in Somalia on Thursday, the police said.

Local police and residents told Radio Mogadishu that the deceased were trucking water to families living in the drought-stricken areas of Bula-Haji in Lower Jubba when their vehicle ran over a landmine suspected to have been planted by al-Shabab militants.

Regional Jubbaland forces and the Somali National Army (SNA) special forces recently took over Bula-Haji from al-Shabab terrorists.

No group has claimed responsibility for the latest explosion in Kismayo.
