At least two persons were killed and 15 others injured, most of them seriously, in a grenade attack Sunday evening in a bar in Burundi’s political capital.
“Unidentified persons blasted a grenade in a bar at Rutegama, in the outskirts of Gitega town around 08:00 p.m. local time (06:00 p.m. GMT). Two persons died on the spot and 15 others were injured,” said Dieudonne Maniragaba, provincial police commissioner in Gitega, in Gitega province, central Burundi.
He said a couple, who were taking drinks in the bar, located near the main bus station of Gitega town, died in the attack.
The injured were evacuated to Gitega’s regional hospital and other health facilities in the province, Maniragaba said.
