Ethiopia has received more than 270,000 AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses from the German Government.
While making the announcement, UNICEF Ethiopia said the country has received 271,200 AstraZeneca doses thanks to donations from the German Government.
Adding that UNICEF will continue to deliver vaccines donated through the COVAX Facility to ensure equitable access globally.
“We appreciate the commitment of the German Government to ensure the equitable delivery of COVID-19 vaccines to Ethiopia.” UNICEF Ethiopia Deputy Representative Michele Servadei said.
“We will continue to work together so that no one is left behind in our efforts to vaccinate the population against COVID-19, particularly those that care for children.” He added.
Ethiopia has as of September 16 recorded 328,735 positive coronavirus cases and 5,059 deaths, according to the country’s health ministry.
A total of 2,398,917 persons have been vaccinated against the disease.
