Over 217,000 COVID-19 shots administered in South Africa in one day

217,752 COVID-19 doses were administered in the past 24 hours in South Africa bringing the total number of doses given in the country to nearly 15 million.

10.8 million citizens have received at least one jab. South Africa aims to give shots to nearly 40 million people. The country’s health department says 7,330,517 people have been vaccinated.

Meanwhile, the country reported 2,640 new infections on Tuesday. The majority of additional infections were logged in Eastern Cape.

The government says South Africa now has more than 2.8 million confirmed COVID-19 cases.
