The Africa Union has suspended Guinea from the bloc following last week’s ouster of President Alpha Conde.

The continental body’s decision comes a day after the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) suspended Guinea’s membership and demanded a return to the constitutional order.

Guinea’s special forces have kept Conde detained since Sunday.

The actions of the military have been condemned by various leaders and organizations, including the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
