The last batch of Zambia’s representatives at Tokyo 2020 left the country on Saturday for the Olympic Games.
Athletes Sidney Siame and Rhoda Njovu were seen off at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport by Zambia Athletics Association president Elias Mpondela.
According to a statement on the athletics body, the two athletes have been accompanied by former Olympic silver medalist Samuel Matete, coach Douglas Kalembo and National Olympic Committee of Zambia board member Dickson Jere.
Njovu qualified in both 100m and 200m while Siame qualified in 200m. They will join the other 28 athletes already in Japan, including the women’s soccer team who lost its opener 10-3 to the Netherlands and tied 4-4 with China.
