Anis Slimane came off the bench in the last 10 minutes and scored a late winner as Tunisia overcame stubborn Mali 1-0 in a friendly at the Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi in Radès on Tuesday.
The hosts were handed a boost in the first half after teenage forward El Bilal Toure was dismissed shortly after the half hour mark for a second bookable offence.
Despite their man advantage, Tunisia failed to capitalize on a dominant half which ended goalless.
The second half saw Tunisia dominate possession but, again, failed to break the deadlock against a resolute Malian defence as the game wore on.
Slimane was brought on for fellow midfielder Aissa Laidouni in the 80th minute and made an instant impact netting the winner 10 minutes later.
Mali was dealt another blow in their pursuit to get something from the game after defender Boubakar Kiki Kouyate was also sent off for a second booking three minutes into injury time with the Tunisians holding on for a win.
Elsewhere, Djibouti defeated neighbours Somalia by a single goal in another friendly on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a match between Algeria and Burundi has reportedly been canceled with reports suggesting Algeria will instead play Liberia.
