Tunisian tennis star Ons Jabeur failed to improve on her Round of 16 appearance at Roland Garros last year after she was knocked out at the same stage of this year’s tournament.

Jabeur fell in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 to American teenager Cori “Coco” Gauff in less than an hour on Monday.

She had been hoping to make just her second quarterfinal appearance at a Grand Slam following her breakthrough run at last year’s Australian Open.

The 26-year-old struggled with her second serve winning just 33 percent of her available points while committing 21 unforced errors, more than twice those of her opponent. She also failed to trouble Gauff on her serve as she never brought up a single break point.

Meanwhile, Gauff, at 17 years and 86 days old, is the youngest player to make a Grand Slam quarterfinal since Nicole Vaidisova reached the same stage at the 2006 French Open, according to the WTA.

Gauff, the 24th seed, will next play another first-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist, Barbora Krejcikova of the Czech Republic.

Next up for Jabeur is the grass court season which will culminate with the year’s third Grand Slam, Wimbledon, which runs between June 28 and July 10.
