Retired Kenyan boxer’s sports academy helps youth stay out of trouble

For many young people in informal settlements in the Kenyan capital Nairobi, the environment they live in provides enough chances for them to engage in various undesirable behaviours, such as engaging in crime and abusing drugs.
Benson Gicharu, a retired boxer and Commonwealth medalist, took it upon himself to start a boxing academy in the city’s Mukuru slum where he not only nurtures the talent in the youth but also counsels them on how to be responsible citizens of society. CGTN caught up with Gicharu to tell his story.
