Somali Commander of the 6th battalion Gorgor, Mohamed Abdiwahid was on Thursday killed in a battle between the Somali National Army and terrorist group Al-Shabaab.
The battle took place at Jalable village in Middle Shabelle region.
The Turkish trained special forces Major Abdiwahid had been in the military service more than 10 years, and has been hailed as a hero who paid the ultimate price for his country’s stability.
Prime Minister Mohamed Roble tweeted saying, “May God have mercy on our brother Major Mohamed Abdiwahid who passed away today while defending his country and his people from a formidable enemy. May God give patience and faith to his family and nation, and may God grant him Paradise.”

Somali National Television also reported that more than 70 members of terrorist group Al-Shabab were killed in the security operation conducted by Somali National Army in Middle Shabelle region on Thursday.
SNA Chief, Brigadier General Odawa Yusuf is leading the battle.
