Egypt’s Zamalek to face F.A.P. of Cameroon in first BAL quarterfinal

The first quarterfinal of the inaugural Basketball Africa League will take place later on Wednesday with Zamalek of Egypt playing Forces Armées et Police Basketball (F.A.P.) of Cameroon at the Kigali Arena in the Rwandan capital Kigali.

Zamalek advanced to the BAL quarterfinals as winners of Group C registering three wins out of three matches while F.A.P. finished third in Group B with one win out of their three matches.

The day’s other quarterfinal will see Morocco’s A.S. Salé battle one of the tournament favourites in Atlético Petróleos de Luanda of Angola, who also finished the group stage with a perfect record.

On Thursday, A.S. Douanes (Senegal) will face another of the tournament favourites US Monastir (Tunisia) while local interest will be piqued in the final game as Rwanda’s Partiots B.B.C. tackle Ferroviário de Maputo of Mozambique.

The semifinals will take place on Saturday, May 29, while the third/fourth place playoff and the final will take place on Sunday, May 30.
