Casualties reported as Kenya Defence Forces soldiers encounter IED in Lamu

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers on routine duties in Baure, lamu county encountered an improvised explosive device (IED) on Tuesday morning along the Bodhei – Kiunga road.

KDF Spokesperson Colonel Zipporah kioko said that the casualties were airlifted to the Defence Forces Memorial hospital in Nairobi for medical care.

“Following the incident, multi agency teams were deployed and are in hot pursuit of the attackers.” Col. Zipporah said.

The incident comes barely two weeks after two people were killed and one critically injured in Lamu, when the vehicle they were travelling in ran over an IED.
