South Africa’s health minister Dr. Zweli Mkhize announced that the first batch of Pfizer vaccines, comprising 325,260 doses arrived in the country on Sunday night.

Following this delivery, Dr. Zweli announced that the country is expecting approximately the same number of doses to arrive on a weekly basis to a total of over 1.3 million doses by the end of May.

Thereafter, the vaccine supply will increase to an average 636,480 doses weekly from May 31 which will see SA accumulating close to 4.5 million doses by the end of June.

South Africa has thus far recorded 1,581,222 coronavirus cases and 54,428 deaths.
