Kenyan forward Michael Olunga continued his fine scoring form for Qatari side Al-Duhail as he netted a hat-trick for them in a 4-3 win against Iranian side Esteghlal in Doha in their AFC Champions League group match on Wednesday.
Olunga scored in the 10th, 27th and 85th minutes, the latter proving to be the match-winner, as Al-Duhail came from a goal down to claim all three points.
The win saw them climb to top spot in Group C with seven points from three matches, one ahead of their opponents who are in second place.
Abdullah Alahrak scored Al-Duhail’s other goal while Amir Motahari, Malian Cheick Diabate and Farshid Esmaeili scored for the Iranian side.
Olunga’s hat-trick was the first of this season’s Champions League and took his tally to four goals in three games. The 27-year old also scored in the previous game, a 1-1 draw away to Al Ahli SC in Jeddah.
Overall, Olunga has found the net 14 times, including six times in nine league matches, since his move from Japanese club Kashiwa Reysol in January.
Al-Duhail will next be in action on Saturday when they take on Esteghlal in their return leg in Iran.
