The draw for this season’s CAF Confederation Cup group stage was held on Monday at the CAF headquarters in Cairo following the conclusion of a majority of matches from the additional preliminary round over the weekend.
Defending champions RS Berkane were handed a tricky set of fixtures in Group B which also includes JS Kabylie (Algeria), Cotonsport (Cameroon) and debutants NAPSA Stars (Zambia).
Last season’s beaten finalists Pyramids F.C. were placed in Group D along with 2018 champions Raja Casablanca (Morocco), Nkana F.C. (Zambia) and either Namungo F.C. (Tanzania) or Primeiro de Agosto (Angola).
Namungo are well placed to confirm their place in the group stage as they hold a commanding 6-2 lead from their first leg match in Dar es Salaam.
Group C features three-time winners CS Sfaxien of Tunisia along with Salitas F.C. (Burkina Faso), ASC les Jaraaf (Senegal) and the winners of the tie between two-time champions Étoile Sportive du Sahel of Tunisia and Young Buffaloes of Eswatini.
The Tunisians won the first leg 2-1 and are favourites to progress to the next stage.
Group A is headlined by Nigeria’s Enyimba and two former runners-up in ES Sétif (Algeria) and Orlando Pirates (South Africa), and Al Ahly Benghazi (Libya).
