Soufiane Rahimi scored twice while Soufian Bouftini and Mohammed Bemmamer each added a goal as the defending champions ended any hopes of the Indomitable Lions winning the tournament on home soil.

Morocco will play against Mali in the final at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in the capital Yaoundé on Sunday.

Mali will be aiming to lift its maiden title after falling short against the Democratic Republic of Congo back in 2016 in Rwanda.

Morocco, meanwhile, will be aiming to join the DR Congo as the most successful sides in the tournament’s history by winning a second championship.

The North Africans also have the chance to make history as the first team to retain the CHAN title following its previous win in 2018, a goal confirmed by coach Houcine Ammouta.

“There is no team that has retained the CHAN title. We want to become the first team to achieve this and we remain positive taking one step at a time,” Ammouta said after the match.

“We are very motivated to achieve this objective that we set before coming for the competition.”

As for Cameroon, they will aim to end the campaign on a high against Guinea in the third-place playoff at the Stade de la Réunification on Saturday.

Guinea, who lost 5-4 to penalties to Mali earlier on Wednesday, will be playing for third place for the second time. The West African side lost 2-1 to Côte d’Ivoire at the same stage of the tournament in 2016.

A successful conclusion of this tournament, created exclusively for domestic-based players, will be a significant boost for Cameroon which is also scheduled to host the Africa Cup of Nations in January next year.
