Talk Africa: COVID-19 and social order


COVID-19 has projected itself not just as a deadly disease, but also a very powerful disruptive force across all spheres of our lives.

Its social impact is beginning to take on a new trajectory in the family unit and broader society; by exploiting existing weaknesses and creating new ones.

Cases of deviant behavior such as under-age drinking, drug abuse, gender-based violence and child pregnancy have been reported to be on the rise across various parts of the world.

So, what is this perhaps overlooked impact that Covid-19 is having on the social order? And are COVID-19 response plans factoring in mental health and coping mechanisms?
