Morocco registered 5,515 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total tally in the North African country to 282,336, the health ministry said in a statement.

It also reported 61 new deaths from the coronavirus, raising the death toll in Morocco to 4,631.

The tally of recoveries in Morocco increased by 3,120 to 229,160 in the last 24 hours, while 999 patients remained in the intensive care units.

Casablanca remains the worst-hit region in the country with 2,179 newly confirmed cases and 21 deaths during the last 24 hours
