CAF releases fixtures for interclubs preliminary rounds

The Confederation of African Football on Monday released the fixtures for this season’s preliminary rounds of the Champions League and the Confederation Cup.

The pick of the fixtures will see Kenyan champions Gor Mahia face Rwandan giants APR F.C. while Tanzania’s Simba S.C. faces Nigeria’s Plateau United. Elsewhere, two-time winners Enyimba of Nigeria and Asante Kotoko of Ghana play Rahimo F.C. of Burkina Faso and F.C. Nouadhibou of Mauritania respectively. Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa will also play Cameroon’s PWD Bamenda.

In the Confederation Cup, Congo’s AS Maniema will play South Africa’s Bloemfontein Celtic, Burkina Faso’s Salitas F.C. will play Ghana’s Ashanti Gold and Burundi’s Musongati F.C. will play Zambia’s Green Eagles.

The first legs in both competitions will take place from November 27-29 while the second legs will take place from December 4-6.

The first legs of the second preliminary round will then be played from December 22-23 with the second legs taking place from January 5-6.

The second preliminary round in the Champions League will see the entry of heavyweights such as record eight-time champions Al Ahly and former champions Zamalek, Mamelodi Sundowns, Raja Casablanca and Wydad Athletic Club.

The second round of the Confederation Cup will feature defending champions RS Berkane, this season’s beaten finalists Pyramids F.C., and former continental champions Orlando Pirates.
