A fire broke out after a container truck collided with a fuel tanker at a bridge, with no casualties reported but affecting traffic, local authorities said on Saturday.

In a statement reaching Xinhua, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency’s response unit said a container truck loaded with fabric suffered a brake failure earlier on Saturday at the Otedola Bridge in Lagos, and collided with a fuel tanker loaded with 33,000 liters of petrol.

“The impact of the collision resulted in fire outbreak … No casualty was recorded,” said the agency, adding the two vehicles were damaged by the fire.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) tweeted on Saturday that the incident was “proactively managed by all emergency agencies,” and the evacuation of the burnt vehicles is currently ongoing.

LASTMA said the incident has slowed traffic in the area.
