There was no change at the top of Tunisia’s Professionnelle Ligue 1 following the latest round of fixtures after league leaders Espérance and second-placed CS Sfaxien both drew their matches.

Espérance and Sfaxien both drew 0-0 against Ben Guerdane and Bizertin respectively as Espérance (48) maintained its 12-point lead over Sfaxien (36) in addition to extending its unbeaten start to the league to 18 matches.

Third-placed Monastir defeated Chebba 3-2 with Mohamed Amri scoring twice while Yassine Amri bagged the winner five minutes from time. Jilani Abdessalam and Thierry Tchuente scored for Chebba. Monastir’s win cut the gap on Sfaxien to one point.

Elsewhere, Étoile du Sahel survived the dismissal of two players to defeat US Tataouine 2-0 at the Olympique de Sousse in Sousse.

First half goals from defenders Saleh Harabi and Bahaeddine Sallemi gave the home side a 2-0 lead going into the break.

However, Étoile du Sahel was dealt a significant blow after defender Wajdi Kechrida and midfielder Mohamed Amine Ben Amor were dismissed within 10 minutes of each other as the hosts finished the final 13 minutes with nine men.

Étoile du Sahel held on for the win and climbed to fourth on 32 points and stretched its unbeaten run against US Tataouine to six matches. US Tataouine lies in 12th place with 14 points.

Two late goals saw fifth-placed Club Africain came from a goal down to defeat Metlaoui 2-1 at the Stade Olympique de Radès in Radès. Saber Khalifa leveled matters for Club Africain six minutes before fulltime after Metlaoui had led the game for nearly an hour through Oussama Boughanmi’s 26th minute penalty. Finally, Rached Arfaoui scored a 21st minute penalty for Slimane who were held to a 1-1 draw away to Hammam-Lif. The hosts had taken a fifth minute lead through Fraj Kayramani but finished the game with 10 men after striker Nassim Chachia was sent off.
