Senegal sets up workshop to train African labs on coronavirus detection

Senegal hosted a workshop to ensure that African laboratories are prepared for detection of the corona-virus.

Laboratory representatives from 15 African countries have been meeting in the capital, Dakar. The workshop was hosted by the Pasteur Institute of Dakar in partnership with the Africa Centre for Disease Control.

The Director of the Pasteur Institute has commended the work done by Chinese authorities to contain the spread of the virus. Meanwhile, a representative from the WHO reaffirmed the organization’s support should the corona-virus epidemic spread to Africa.

So far no confirmed cases have been detected in Africa though many governments remain vigilant in the ensuring that the outbreak in contained.
