In Kenya, a group of staff from Africa Star railway Operation Company have joined in solidarity with the Chinese in the fight against the corona virus through fundraising.
A donation box was set up at the center of the lobby area where members of the company loaded it with their own donations in support of their Chinese colleges.
The first cases of the new corona virus were reported in China late in 2019 and as the cases increase, Chinese residents living in Kenya rallied together to send urgent medical supplies back home to assist in this effort.
As of Wednesday 5 January, there were 491 deaths from the coronavirus in China and 1 abroad, and 24,363 confirmed coronavirus cases in China and 197 abroad. Some 892 people have recovered.
The Chinese government has activated a level 1 emergency response in 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities on the Chinese mainland.
