Two children have died after a fresh landslide hit Sironko District in Uganda on Friday.
According to a local publication Daily Monitor, the deceased have been identified only as Winnie, nine years and Tom, seven years.
Sironko District Woman MP, Ms Florence Nambozo Mayoga confirmed the disaster saying it happened at about 5pm on Friday.
“It’s true another landslide has killed two children in my district and displaced hundreds of people,” she said.
She said the deceased were coming from Nabweya hill, and were taking food to their grandmother in the same area when the landslide happened.
The area has suffered effects of the extreme weather conditions ranging from landslides to floods which have left hundreds of families displaced while others dead.
Crops and houses have also been destroyed and a number of people have sought refuge from their relatives, schools, churches and public places.
