Talk Africa – World Cities Day: Urbanization and Africa

A United Nations report on urbanization states that more than 50% of the global population now lives in urban areas, but the figure is projected to increase to 75 percent by 2050, at a growing rate of 65 million urban dwellers annually.

The UN has designated October 31st as World Cities Day, with an aim to addressing the challenges of urbanization, while contributing to sustainable urban development around the world.

This week we look at some of the challenges of growing urban populations in Africa, and ask whether technological innovations can help address some of these issues.
