Kenyans land top jobs at China funded railway operating firm

Afristar Railway Operation Company has appointed four Kenyan nationals to senior positions at the Kenyan branch of the China Road and Bridge Corporation.

The move is part of plans to localize its operations in the country.

In the new management shakeup, Sammy Gachuhi comes in as Afristar’s first deputy general manager.

Before his appointment, Gachuhi served as Kenya Railways head of freight operations.

Others appointed to top leadership positions include Diana Kimani as the deputy manager of the passenger department while Olivia Mengich takes up the corporate culture deputy manager post.

David Muga rounds up the latest appointments as the freight marketing manager.

They join over 200 other Kenyans in leadership positions as the company moves to the second phase of Kenya’s standard gauge railway project.
