Boko Haram has killed, kidnapped, and terrorised Nigerians and the country’s neighbours for a decade now.
The group, founded by Mohammed Yusuf in 2002, was initially non-violent. But around 2009 it began its campaign of terror. In 10 years it has murdered over 30,000 people.
How has Boko Haram been able to continue its reign of terror for a decade unchecked? And, why has it taken so long to defeat?
