World leaders condole with Sri Lanka following Easter Sunday attacks

World leaders have condemned the explosions that rocked Sri Lanka on Sunday leaving more than 200 people dead.

Eight attacks were carried out in and around the capital, Colombo, targeting churches and hotels.

They were conducted as Christians around the world celebrated Easter Sunday, one of the most important events in the Christian calendar.

Three explosions went off in three churches, three in luxury hotels, one in a guest house and a last one at an undisclosed location.

Following the blasts, the Sri Lankan government has declared a 6PM to 6AM curfew in the country with immediate effect.

Identities of those killed are yet to be made public, but it is reported that one Chinese national has already been confirmed dead.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

World leaders including U.S. President Donald Trump, Russia’s Vladimir Putin, Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdoğan among many others took to social media to condole with those affected by the blasts.
