Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Sunday met with the African Union Commission chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat for talks in Egypt.
The two leaders were among a host of leaders who attended the opening ceremony of the Arab-African Youth Forum (AAYF) in Aswan.
Their discussions focused on the crises that have hit Africa and how they can be solved.
President el-Sisi, through his spokesperson, said that he was looking forward to further cooperation with the AU.
On his part, Moussa Faki hailed Egypt’s leading role in African affairs, saying the north African country had made great progress in ending conflicts in the continent.
President el-Sisi took over the chairmanship of the AU in February, and will serve for one year.
