My Story – Cancer triumph

Cancer is one of the leading killer diseases globally.

According to the World Health Organization, cancer is responsible for an estimated 9.6 million deaths in 2018. Globally, about 1 in 6 deaths is due to cancer.

Approximately 70% of the deaths from cancer occur in low- and middle-income countries, the bracket in which most of Africa falls into.

In Africa, the cancer burden is projected to hit an alarming 1.4 million new cases and 1 million deaths by 2030.

Despite these staggering figures, many cancer patients have however won the fight against the killer disease. One such person is Waithera Kabiru, who fought against Breast Cancer and emerged victorious.
