Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Sunday met with Mohammed al-Hassan al-Merghani, the first assistant to the Sudanese President to for bilateral talks aimed at boosting cooperation between the two countries.
President el-Sisi pledged support for Sudan’s security and stability plans as part of his country’s regional security focus.
Merghani expressed Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir’s appreciation of the Egypt-Sudan relations, and praised the numerous visits of senior officials and political leaders between the two countries.
The first assistant also expressed President Bashir’s hope that his country can learn and benefit from Egypt’s Egyptian development experiment, which participated in improving Egypt’s Growth Domestic Product (GDP).
In August 2017, President el-Sisi dispatched medical and veterinary teams to several Sudanese provinces to manage a pest infestation, protect livestock from floods, and control the spread of disease from livestock killed so far.
Sisi insisted on providing aid “within the framework of brotherly ties and shared destiny, which bring together the two countries and two peoples”.
