Kenyan football’s governing body estimates that it would need $2 million to prepare for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Football Kenya Federation president Nick Mwendwa however said the amount is still subject to change.

“We’ve estimated about $ 2 million (approximately Sh205 million), but this is subject to change after patching up all necessary details,” local Daily Nation newspaper quotes Mwendwa to have said.

“For us we need not relax because we’ve a final game against Ghana, we want to stay top of the group and to do so, we must get a positive result away,” he added.

Kenya confirmed their participation in next year’s showpiece after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Monday that it had disqualified Sierra Leone from qualification.

The move means Kenya and Ghana booked their tickets to AFCON 2019 with a game to spare.

Mwendwa called on sponsors to come on board and support Harambee Stars, which will participate in the continental competition for only the second time in 24 years.
