Tanzanian president sacks two ministers in cabinet reshuffle

Tanzanian President John Magufuli has shaken up his cabinet, sacking two ministers in the latest reshuffle.

On Saturday, the Tanzanian head of state sacked Industries, Trade and Investment Minister Charles Mwijage and Agriculture Minister Charles Tizeba.

In the mini reshuffle, Magufuli appointed the Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Japhet Hasunga, to replace Tizeba in the agriculture docket.

The president also appointed Joseph George Kakunda to take up the industries and trade docket.

A statement issued by the Directorate of Presidential Communication at State House in the commercial capital Dar es Salaam did not give reasons for the sackings.

Before his new appointment, Kakundq was Deputy Minister in the President’s Office responsible for Local Government and Regional Administration.

The statement from the presidential communication directorate indicated that Magufuli also made changes in the appointments of some deputy ministers.

The new appointees will be sworn in on Monday.
