Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari heads to Britain for 10 days on Friday in what his spokesman has described as a “routine vacation”.
The holiday comes just months after he spent about four days in the European country to visit his doctor, and close to a year since he spent another five months in London for medical treatment.
The President’s Spokesman Femi Adesina said Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbanjo will be charge during Buhari’s absence, but gave no further details.
Buhari, who is contesting the election in Africa’s largest country next February, is facing a slew of resignations from his All Progressive Congress Party.
Just this week, Senate President Bukola Saraki and Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal both decamped to the opposition People’s Democratic Party.
Here are some views from Nigerians on Twitter on the head of state’s vacation.
Just days before his intended holiday, Buhari was picked as the next leader of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and also launched his new electoral headquarters in the state capital Abuja.
