President Kagame hails China’s friendship with Africa

Rwandan President Paul Kagame has hailed China’s relations with Africa, saying it (the relationship) is more precious than money.

Kagame’s statement came during a joint press briefing with the visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping in the capital, Kigali.

“China relates to #Africa as an equal. We see ourselves as a people on the road to prosperity. China’s actions demonstrate, that you see us in the same way. This is a revolutionary posture in world affairs, and it is more precious than money,” Kagame said.

President Xi arrived in Kigali on Sunday, marking the first time ever that a Chinese Head of State has visited the East African country.

President Kagame hosted a grand welcoming ceremony for his Chinese counterpart, where he expressed his expectations of fruitful discussions during the historic visit.

The two presidents held discussions on Monday, after which a raft of agreements were signed.

Kagame hailed the deals struck between the two countries, saying they were a sign of what Rwanda and China could achieve together.

After his visit to Rwanda, President Xi will head to South Africa where he will attend the 2018 BRICS Summit. Russia’s President Vladimir Putin is also expected to attend the forum.
