FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, is in Tanzania for the first time to chair a football summit to be held at the Julius Nyerere International convention center.
The head of world football’s governing body has had a whirlwind tour – arriving after visiting Nigeria and France in recent days.
He is accompanied by CAF president Ahmad Ahmad, Fifa vice chairman, FIFA General Secretary plus other FIFA and CAF executive committee’s members.
Top on the agenda of the summit will be various FIFA projects well known as FIFA Forward Programme; Improving FIFA and members relations and their priorities; Youth soccer and Women soccer; and the Hosting of under 17 AFCON and the construction of the Football development center in Tanga region.
With the presence of top CAF officials it is speculated that talks will also touch on the Zanzibar and Tanzania CAF membership situation.
A situation that saw Zanzibar given CAF membership only to have it revoked after it was seen to be part of Tanzania Mainland.
