Uganda’s Deputy Ambassador to the United States has been fired by the State Department for allegedly beating his wife.

The State Minister for International Affairs, Mr Okello Oryem, confirms reports that Dickson Ogwang was immediately asked to pack his bags.

“When he arrives, we shall counsel him together with his wife so that such a thing does not happen again.” Oryem said.

Local online website, the Daily Monitor reported that Mr. Ogwang had allegedly hosted guests for Thanksgiving at his residence among whom included a lady he was having an affair with.

The website reported that Mrs. Ogwang raised her insecurities about the lady and later  received beating from her husband after the guests had left. Mrs. Ogwang’s nose was injured in the incident.

Upon reporting the case to the police it became an issue of diplomatic concern as authorities in Washington wanted him prosecuted.
