Ghanaian former international football star, Yakubu Abubakar has died at the age of 36.
The former Black Star, a defensive midfielder, died in a hospital in the southern Ghanaian city of Tema on Tuesday.
Abubakari made 16 appearances for the Black Stars, and was part of their squad in the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations, the Sun reports.
But he failed to make the final cut for the squad who competed in the World Cup in Germany later that year.

A statement on the Ghana FA Twitter handle read: ”We’re sad to hear the death of former Ghana, Ajax & Vitesse midfielder Abubakari Yakubu, our thoughts are with his family. may his soul RIP.”
