Nigeria targets pensions, gratuities, terminal benefits for taxation


The Nigerian government may be headed for a collision course with labour unions over plans to tax pensions, gratuities and terminal benefits of workers.

The country is seeking to expand its revenue beyond oil and one area it is targeting is taxes.

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN has come out strongly and have vowed to resist the implementation of the plan, contending that it will further impoverish Nigerian workers.
