Nigerian President Buhari now in London

Nigerian President who departed New York from the 72nd UN General Assembly for the United Kingdom has arrived safely, Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity said.

Mr Buhari had joined other world leaders for the one week UNGA high-level events that started on Tuesday.

Before he left for New York, the presidency had hinted that Mr Buhari would travel through London on his way back from New York.

He was accompanied by Governors Abdul’aziz Yari, David Umahi and Rotimi Akeredolu of Zamfara, Ebonyi and Ondo states respectively.

Garba Shehu, his spokesperson, did not say whether Mr. Buhari was going back to the U.K to resume medical treatment.

“I cannot confirm to you. I am in Abuja right now I cannot speak on what I don’t know, nobody has communicated with me,” he told Nigeria’s Premium Times when he was reached on phone Thursday evening.

Adesina told Channels Television that the trip would not exceed its scheduled timeframe.

“Though he is going to the UK, everything will still be done within the timeframe of the trip,” Adesina had said.

President Buhari addressed the gathering of world leaders at the UN General Assembly. He also attended a working lunch together with other African leaders that was hosted by the US President Donald Trump.

The Nigerian President has been in London twice this year being treated for an undisclosed ailment, returning on September 25 after over three months stay on the second occasion.
